Black Pottery Round Oven Dish (size 6)

La Chamba pottery is uniquely, authentically handmade in La Chamba, a village in Columbia.

Each piece is made with clay sourced from the Rio Magdalena river and is left to dry in sunlight, then hand polished with stones. Once a satiny smooth surface has been achieved, the pieces are fired at 800c . Finally, the fired pieces are smoked using A combination of dried local spices. This final step gives the pottery it’s iconic black colour.
The clay retains heat and fluids, which allows for a slow and balanced cooking process.

Colombian black pottery is as beautiful as it is sturdy and will give years of pleasure with proper use and care.

100% organic clay, no lead or varnish

Use
On gas or electric stove, in the oven and microwave. Not suitable for  induction hobs.
Please keep in mind when cooking in clay, the cookware does not like quick, extreme temperature changes. Bring up the heat slowly.

Maintenance

Handwash. Use of dishwasher allowed, yet not advised.
